Publication Ethics

The Journal of Netrokona Medical College (JNMC) is deeply committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in its publication process. The integrity of the research and its dissemination through peer-reviewed journals are fundamental to the scientific process. JNMC adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure ethical integrity in its publications, expecting all stakeholders—including authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—to follow these standards.

For Authors

JNMC provides a platform for medical professionals, researchers, and scholars to share their work globally. Authors are expected to maintain ethical conduct and academic integrity throughout the submission and publication process.

     1. Manuscript Submission Guidelines

    • Original Work: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration or published elsewhere. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.
    • Manuscript Structure: Submissions should include an abstract, keywords, and structured sections (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion). References must follow a recognized citation format (e.g., Vancouver style).
    • Figures and Tables: Should be precise, properly labeled, and cited in the text.
    • Language and Style: Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Professional editing services are encouraged if necessary.

     2. Authorship and Contributions

    • Criteria for Authorship: Only individuals who made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors.
    • Acknowledgments: Mention contributors who do not meet authorship criteria.

     3. Ethical Compliance

    • Human and Animal Subjects: Research involving human or animal subjects must have ethical approval from an institutional review board (IRB).
    • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest.
    • Data Sharing and Transparency: Authors should be open to sharing data for validation and transparency.

     4. Review Process

    • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review, and authors may be asked to make revisions. The final decision for publication rests with the editorial board.

     5. Post-Acceptance

    • Authors will receive proofs for review and are responsible for ensuring no significant errors remain.

For Reviewers

Reviewers play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal's publications.

  1. Confidentiality: Manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents, and reviewers must not disclose any information outside the review process.
  2. Objectivity and Fairness: Reviewers are expected to offer objective and constructive feedback.
  3. Review Criteria: Evaluate manuscripts on originality, scientific rigor, relevance, and presentation.
  4. Timeliness: Reviewers should complete evaluations within the designated timeframe.
  5. Ethical Considerations: Reviewers should report ethical issues such as plagiarism or falsified data.
  6. Conflict of Interest: Reviewers with conflicts of interest must decline to review the manuscript.

For Publishers

The publisher ensures that the journal upholds its integrity and quality throughout the publishing process.

  1. Editorial Independence: The publisher ensures that editorial decisions are made based on scientific merit and relevance.
  2. Ethical Oversight: In collaboration with the editorial board, the publisher maintains ethical standards throughout the publishing process.
  3. Open Access Policy: JNMC operates under an open-access model, ensuring all content is freely available to readers.
  4. Indexing and Archiving: The publisher ensures content is archived and indexed in relevant databases for long-term accessibility.
  5. Handling of Misconduct: The publisher investigates ethical violations such as plagiarism or data falsification and takes appropriate action.
  6. Collaboration with Authors and Reviewers: The publisher works closely with authors and reviewers to ensure a smooth publication process and provide resources for manuscript preparation and submission.
